Job Title: Rehab Technician & Admin Support

Department: Rehab & Performance

Reports To: Rehab & Performance Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Temporary, Full-Time

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M., with some possibility of earlier or later shifts depending on patient care.

Summary:

We are looking for a capable and friendly Rehab Technician to support our Physical Therapy Department. In this role, your duties will include assisting with patient intake, assessing patient tolerance to treatments, instructing patients on exercises prescribed by physical therapists, taking messages/returning calls and maintaining patient records. You will also be required to help keep the facility and equipment organized and clean.

To ensure success as a rehab technician, you should possess knowledge of therapeutic techniques, orthopedic DME, and ideally have experience in a similar role. A top-notch rehab technician will be a team player and someone with exceptional interpersonal skills.

This position requires compliance with OrthoEast's compliance standards, including its Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, and policies and procedures. Such compliance will be an element required as part of the job duties, and considered during performance evaluations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Obtaining patients' personal information and updating medical histories; maintaining and updating patient records.
  • Assisting patients to reach examination and treatment rooms.
  • Observing patient tolerance to treatments under the direct supervision of licensed physical therapists
  • Supporting physical therapists with complicated treatments, as well as assisting patients with physical activities
  • Managing patient mobility within the facility
  • Sterilizing therapeutic equipment and ensuring that facilities are kept clean and tidy.
  • Safely disposing of hazardous waste and soiled materials.
  • Returning patient messages in EHR system.
  • Keep records accurate by updating inventory system, fill out appropriate documentation, and collaborate with colleagues to ensure stock is kept at an appropriate level.
  • Fulfill and verify orders with high degree of accuracy.
  • Set settings on devices when required by the order.
  • Update system when returns are received.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Work Cross-functionally with colleagues to ensure patient needs are placed above all others, to obtain medical devices, accessories and necessities in a timely manner.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Experience in obtaining patient information and performing basic assessments.
  • Advanced ability to manage patient mobility and transportation needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, as well as a caring nature.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and clerical tasks.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment in line with regulations.
  • Knowledge of physical therapy techniques, treatments, and equipment.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) software, such as MotionMD and ModMed.
  • CPR certification.

Physical Demands:
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting, keyboarding, and talking on the telephone.
  • Physically fit to assist immobile, injured, and frail patients.
