Job Description
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to: Education: AA/AS degree from an accredited college with major course work in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Human Services, Social Services or related field AND Experience: one (1) year of experience working with children, families, community groups and public agencies, providing safety, child or mental health consultation. Experience providing home visitation services for parents, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers and serving families with disabilities is preferred. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Ability to complete three (3) units of Infant/Toddler education within one year after hire. Valid California driver's license Comments and Other Information THIS POSITION IS SPANISH BILINGUAL REQUIRED The Educational Services Division is now accepting applications for Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start - Restricted, Bilingual Spanish Required. Under assigned supervision, the Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start - Restricted is responsible for providing intensive and comprehensive child development and family support services to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of participating children. The Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start - Restricted promotes positive parent-child interactions and provides resources to parents in a home-based setting to support parents in their roles. The Home Visiting Specialist - Early Head Start - Restricted is also responsible for coordinating and leading socialization sessions with groups of children and their families. EXAMINATION PROCEDURES Assessments and interviews will take place virtually via Zoom Meetings. Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated. The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for December 3, 2024. Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for December 11, 2024. Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list. Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for December 18, 2024. Candidates will be invited over email to participate in examination and selection steps, using the email supplied within their applications, or as updated by candidates in their master profiles. Therefore, it is recommended that candidates check their email at least daily. NOTE: Examination procedures are subject to change as deemed necessary by the Director - Classified Personnel Services. Candidates who test successfully for placement on the eligibility list may be certified to other related positions without further testing requirements, OR job posting announcements.
