Replace Lesya Plesnyk Job Summary Responsible for assisting optometrists and ophthalmologists in providing quality eye care services to patients by performing a range of administrative, clinical, and technical duties to ensure efficient operations and excellent patient experiences within the eye care department. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Greet and prepare patients for their eye examinations, including documenting medical history, medications, and chief complaints. Conduct initial vision and eye health assessments, such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, and non-contact tonometry, to gather baseline information for the optometrist. Perform specialized tests under the direction of the optometrist, such as visual field testing, retinal imaging, corneal topography, and fundus photography. Assist patients with contact lens insertion, removal, and care instructions. Educate patients on proper contact lens hygiene. Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of diagnostic and examination equipment. Provide patients with information about eye conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures as directed by the optometrist. Assist the optometrist during minor procedures, such as foreign body removal or tonometry, by handing instruments and offering patient comfort. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials N/A Experience Optometry/Ophthalmology Experience 1-2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Proficiency in performing various eye-related tests and using diagnostic equipment. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems is desirable. Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with patients and colleagues. Strong customer service skills to provide a welcoming and compassionate environment for patients. Keen attention to detail when recording patient information, performing tests, and assisting with procedures. Willingness to work collaboratively in a team-based healthcare setting.
