Job Description
The Custodian/Maintenance Worker is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of NYPCC's Mental Health clinics located at our 579 Courtlandt Avenue, Bronx, NY 10451 location. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary by requirements and the organization's needs.
Responsibilities:
Perform general, routine custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, buffing, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, restock paper, and soap supplies.
Maintaining inventory control and safeguarding of all maintenance supplies and equipment
Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. ( ex: light sensors are on/test buttons are functioning)
Maintain outside walk areas, including sweeping debris, washing walkways, snow removal, and salt distribution.
Coordinate with supervisor to facilitate repairs and maintenance by outside vendors when needed. ( ex: Escorting and assisting facility maintenance vendors and contractors)
Handle property grounds to maintain a clean professional appearance including but not limited to landscaping, winter weather-related cleanup safety measures, and assist Office Management personnel with completing safety checks on facility systems and equipment
Detecting, and identifying building issues, like basic problems with the building's electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems
Dispose of trash and litter from on-site premises and the perimeters of the clinic.
Ensure all recycled materials and trash are appropriately sorted and taken out of the designated pick-up areas.
Assist with deliveries, building, and installing new furniture or equipment
Clean and polish fixtures as needed
Replacing batteries on all fire exit door handles and sensor restroom equipment when required
Light restroom plumbing assistance when necessary
Windows/Glass cleaning in offices, general waiting areas, and lobby areas
Install bulbs and conduct minor non-electrical light fixture maintenance
Knowledgeable in commercial cleaning and infection control best practices
Promptly report facility maintenance issues to the Director of Support Services/Office Manager
Keeping repair tools and supplies clean and organize
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor
