Job Description

An employee in this position is part of the Protective Services Unit which provides specialized casework services to at risk clients 60 years of age or older, under the Older Adults Protective Services Act. This position includes bilingual responsibilities, and the caseload will include bilingual consumers. DESCRIPTION OF WORK An Aging Care Manager 3 investigates referrals and provides protective services for clients who are in danger of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or abandonment and who are having difficulty maintaining a safe and healthful independent lifestyle. This position gathers psychological and medical assessments and financial information that may be necessary to determine the consumer's eligibility for services. Work includes preparing case histories, writing letters, preparing reports, and maintaining an ongoing case record. Your responsibility will include recommending cases that require court intervention such as guardianships, Protective Services interventions, and petitions for mental health commitments. You will have the opportunity to act as a liaison with other social agencies, hospitals, clinics, courts, law enforcement organizations and other community resources in planning to meet the needs of the consumers and to assist the consumer in utilizing these available resources. Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. On-call and after-hours duties are required. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: One year as an Aging Care Manager 2 or Aging Program Assessor; or One and one-half years of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience; and a bachelor's degree in social sciences, behavioral sciences, human services, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes six months of professional human services, law enforcement, or nursing experience. Other Requirements: This particular position requires the selected candidate to be able to read, write, and speak in Spanish.
