About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will oversee the companys accounts payable processes, ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments while maintaining accurate financial records. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, exceptional organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software.

Responsibilities:
  • Process vendor invoices and ensure their accuracy prior to payment approval.
  • Reconcile accounts to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Manage the payment process, including scheduling payments and addressing discrepancies.
  • Prepare journal entries and organize documentation for all financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve accounts payable-related issues.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (Associates degree considered with equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in accounts payable or a related accounting role.
  • Proficiency in double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general accounting principles.
  • Skilled in using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
  • Familiarity with tax regulations and governmental accounting practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with public accounting or governmental accounting.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems like ADP.
  • Background in preparing financial reports and maintaining compliance with accounting standards.
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, including account reconciliation and vendor management.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
